I am devoted to multiple arts, but writing will always be my passion. I study Creative Writing, Music, Theatre, and Archival Studies. I earned my Bachelor of Arts from the Mississippi University for Women, my Master’s Degree in English from Auburn University, and am currently working on my second Master’s Degree in Library Science at the University of Alabama. My work experience includes Writing Center tutoring and a Teaching Assistantship at Auburn. I have published some works in MUW’s literary magazine and have written a play that won second place in a playwriting competition.

Work Experience

Teaching Assistant – Auburn University                                             2020-2022

  • Assisted with two literature classes (Early English Lit and Late American Lit), then taught English Composition I and II

Mosaic Theatre Company Member – Auburn University

  • Worked with teams of people to write original plays that addressed relevant issues, such as BIPOC concerns, Trans Rights, and Critical Race Theory. We also filmed stage performances of these pieces to send to organizations that asked for them.

GABBR STEM Program English Instructor                                 Summer ’21 & ’22

  • Teach high-school-level literature and writing to high school students from the Alabama black belt region who want tutoring in preparation for higher-level classes. Plan, organize, and teach classes for 45-minute sessions with students.

Writing Center Tutor – Mississippi University for Women                    2017-2020

  • Assisted other college students with writing work, including essays and resumes. The students’ skill levels ranged from below-average skills to advanced skills. Advised these students in grammar, structure, punctuation, editing, and proofreading.

Accomplishments

  • Published poems in Mississippi University for Women’s literary magazine, The Dilettanti, including: “Goldenrod,” “The Lighthouse,” “Alabama,” and “The Juniper Tree.”
  • Play, “Somebody Coughed,” was awarded 2nd place at the Mississippi Theatre Association’s Ten Minute Play Competition in Spring 2019
  • Poem, “The Lighthouse,” was adapted into lyrics for a choral piece, “The Lighthouse,” by Dr. Joe Alexander.
  • Poem, “Winter” was commissioned by the MUW Theatre Department for their holiday production in Fall 2019.
  • Assisted in judging poetry submissions for The Dilettanti in Spring 2018.
  • Assisted in judging poetry, fiction, and nonfiction submissions for The Southern Humanities Review during the 2020/2021 academic year.
